What is a shell company?
A shell company is a company that is only formally registered at an address but does not conduct any real business activity there. Virtual offices or domiciliation services are often used. This is often recognizable by addresses with very many registered companies.
At how many companies does an address become suspicious?
There is no fixed limit, but more than 20-30 companies at a single address (unless it is an office building or business center) may indicate a domiciliation service. Context is important: A business center with 100 companies is normal, a private address with 50 companies is suspicious.
